RV3774 Messerschmitt P.1099 A (P-Series)

The Messerschmitt P.1099 was a project for a German fighter and bomber from the Second World War. The propulsion was to be provided by two Junkers Jumo 004 turbojet engines. The on-board armament - in the P.1099 A version - was probably to consist of two or four Mk.108 30mm cannons. The machine has never been tested, much less entered mass production.

The first work on the Messerschmitt P.1099 project began in the summer of 1943 with the aim of creating an improved version of the Me-262 fighter. The aim of the new machine was to improve aerodynamics and performance, and above all - the Messerschmitt P.1099 was to be actually a multi-purpose aircraft. Two versions of this aircraft were developed. The first one (designation: P.1099 A) was to be used as a fighter and it was armed with two or four 30 mm cannons. A design for the P.1099 B version was also created - an attack aircraft or a night fighter, already armed with a 50 m cannon and equipped with an extensive on-board avionics. None of the P.1099 versions have been implemented, but the project was used to develop the assumptions for the new Messerschmitt fighters: P.1100 and P.1101.
